Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:10.

The Archangel Gabriel

The Archangel Gabriel

THEY [the angels] are mighty and prompt to fulfil the will of the Deity (Ps 102(103):20), and their nature is endowed with such celerity that wherever the Divine glance bids them there they are straightway found. …

They behold God according to their capacity, and this is their food. …

They have Heaven for their dwelling-place, and have one duty, to sing God’s praise and carry out His divine will.

Tone 4. Of the Bodiless Powers.

FOR with the Lord is mercy, and with him is much redemption, and he shall redeem Israel from all her iniquities.

THOU preparedst the armies and godlike ranks of the Angels as acceptable dwellings and all honoured vessels of thy divine radiance, who should behold thy glory and stand about thy throne, who should perform thy word and in strength with power, and diligently fulfil thy commands, O Lover of mankind.

PRAISE ye the Lord, all nations: yea praise ye him, all peoples.

WISHING to reveal thyself, who art Good without beginning, as an ocean of goodness, first of all didst thou create the choirs of Angels and the ranks of Powers, at thy all-powerful sign and at thy divine command; for truly it was necessary for the good to be outpoured and to journey forth, and that thy gifts be multiplied, O Master.

FOR thy mercy hath prevailed over us, and the truthfulness of the Lord abideth unto the age.

SIX-WINGED Seraphim, Cherubim with many-eyes, and exalted Thrones attend thee, and share directly in thy light-giving radiance. Fair of voice are the Dominions, Principalities, Authorities, Archangels, Angels and divine Powers that hymn thy glory, O Almighty, as they intercede with thee for our sakes.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
Both now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

AS thou hast won unsleeping intercession and abiding advocacy with the Lord, All-Pure Lady, lull the temptations of my wretched soul to sleep, calm her waves, and comfort my heart in its affliction, I beseech thee Maiden, and give grace to my mind, that I may fittingly give glory to thee.

Weekday Vespers (Tone 4), on Sunday Evening. My inexpert translation, from Analogion, with some help from Anastasis.
