In thee rejoiceth, O full of grace, all creation

I WILL open my mouth, and it shall be filled with the Spirit, and I shall utter a word unto the Mother and Queen; openly shall I be seen keeping her festival, and joyfully shall I sing in praise of her wonders.

O THEOTOKOS, living and ungrudging wellspring, make those who sing thy praises firm in spiritual fellowship, and in thy divine glory, make them worthy of crowns of glory.

“Openly shall I be seen keeping her festival, and joyfully shall I sing in praise of her wonders!”

**

IN thee rejoiceth, O full of grace, all creation:
the angelic hosts, and the race of men,
O hallowed Temple and super-sensual paradise,
glory of Virgins,
of whom God was incarnate and became a little child,
even our God Who is before all the ages;
for He made thy womb a throne,
and thy body He made more spacious than the heavens.
In thee rejoiceth, O full of grace, all creation;
and it glorifieth thee.

  1. The birth of our king Jesus, the baby Jesus born through the virgin Mary.. Never read more beautiful story than this! So excited that the Christmas is just right around the corner. It’s my favorite time of the year!

  2. It is beyond all rational understanding, that ‘he who is our God before the ages’ should become a little child. “Our God contracted to a span, / Incomprehensibly made man”, as Charles Wesley wrote.

    WHAT shall we offer you, O Christ, because you have appeared on earth as a man for our sakes? For each of the creatures made by you offers you its thanks: the Angels their hymn; the heavens the Star; the Shepherds their wonder; the Magi their gifts; the earth the Cave; the desert the Manger; but we a Virgin Mother. God before the ages, have mercy on us. (At Vespers on Christmas Day)

  3. Oh yes, way beyond all rational understanding, and very, so very incomprehensible. Even though it has been foretold throughout the ages! That prayer is beautiful. Thank you for posting.
