St Andrew, Herald and Apostle of Christ

O THOU who wast formed in the light of the Forerunner, when the efflugence in very Person of the Paternal glory appeared, wishing in his tender-heartedness to save the race of men, then thou first, O glorious saint, ran unto him, thy mind flooded with light by the most perfect sparkling radiance of his divinity. Therefore you were called both Herald and Apostle of Christ our God. Intercede with him, to save and enlighten our souls.

ISAIAS, dance, receive the word of God; prophesy to Mary the maiden, that the bush is aflame with the sunbeam of the Godhead, and is not being consumed in fire. Bethlehem, prepare! Eden open thy gate! And ye Magi, make your journey to see salvation swaddled in a manger. The Star above the cave reveals him to be the Lord, the giver of life, who is saving our race.
