Now magnify the Creator who is born

O LORD, I have heard thy report, and was afraid: I considered thy works, and was amazed: thou shalt be known between the two living creatures, thou shalt be acknowledged when the years draw nigh; thou shalt be manifested when the time is come; when my soul is troubled, thou wilt in wrath remember mercy.

God shall come from Thaeman, and the Holy One from the dark shady mount Pharan. His excellence covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.

And his brightness shall be as light; there were horns in his hands, and he caused a mighty love of his strength.

Habakkuk 3:2-3 (LXX).

HOUSE of Ephratha, holy city, glory of the Prophets, make thy house ready, in which which the divine child is born.

*

CHRIST cometh to bruise the evil one, to lighten those in darkness, and to loose our bonds; let us go out to meet him.

God shall come from Teman, and his holy one from the mountain clothed in forest shadow.

SING out praise and glory, ye families of the Gentiles; make eager haste, ye Magi with your gifts, ye Shepherds abiding in the fields.

O Lord, I have heard thy report, and was afraid: I considered thy works.

YE hills and mountains, hollows and plains, ye rivers and all creation, now magnify the Creator who is born.

BETHLEHEM, prepare; Eden is opened for all. Make ready Ephratha; for in the Cave the tree of life hath put forth flowers from the Virgin. For her womb is revealed as the spiritual Paradise, in which there is a divine sapling; eating from it we shall live; we shall not die as Adam did. Christ is born to raise up his image, which in time past fell.
