Ye Apostles, from the uttermost bounds (Ἀπόστολοι ἐκ περάτων)

‘YE APOSTLES, from the uttermost bounds
Brought hither, as one,
Within the girdle of Gethsemane:
Perform the funeral offices upon my body;
And do thou, O my son and my God, receive my spirit.’

O sweetness of the angels,
O joy of the afflicted,
Protectress of Christians,
Virgin Mother of the Lord:
Come to my aid, and deliver me from eternal torment.

I have thee as Advocate
Before God who loveth mankind;
Lay not my deeds to my charge
In the sight of the Angels;
I beseech thee, O Virgin, swiftly help me.

Thou tower wreathed in gold,
And city of twelve walls; [cf. Rev 21:10-14]
Thou throne of sundrops,
Seat of the King,
Wonder uncomprehended –
How dost thou suckle the Master?

Through the prayers of our holy fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us.

Exapostilaria at the Little Paraklisis during the first two weeks of August.

Χρυσοπλοκώτατε πύργε, καὶ δωδεκάτειχε πόλις, ἡλιοστάλακτε θρόνε, καθέδρα τοῦ Βασιλέως, ἀκατανόητον θαῦμα, πῶς γαλουχεῖς τὸν Δεσπότην;
