CHRIST is risen from the dead, by death itself, trampling down death;
and to them that are in the tombs, granting life.
This short hymn is sung repeatedly on Easter Day, and for many days thereafter.
Orthodox Christians will greet each other saying, Χριστὸς ἀνέστη (Christ is risen!) and reply in turn ἀληθῶς ἀνέστη (truly, he is risen!).
