HAIL! O Life-bearing Cross, unconquerable trophy of godliness, O door of paradise, firm foundation of the faithful, that compasseth the Church about as a wall; by whom corruption is utterly swept away and abolished, the power of death is swallowed up, and we are lifted up from earth to heaven.
O thou invincible weapon, champion against the demons, glory of martyrs, O truly art thou the ornament of the saints, O haven of salvation, that givest thy great mercy to the world.
V. Exalt ye the Lord our God: and worship at his footstool, for he is holy.
Hail! O cross of the Lord, by whom the human race has been loosed from the curse; as thou art lifted up, thou shatterest our enemies, thou art a sign of true joy, all-venerable cross; thou art our help, thou art the imperial strength of kings, the strength of the righteous, the dignity of priests; he that maketh thy sign upon himself, is ransomed even from terrors; thou staff of power, beneath which we are tended as sheep; weapon of peace, about which the angels stand in awe; divine glory of Christ, of him that granteth great mercy to the world.
V. But God is our King of old: working salvation in the midst of the earth.
Hail! guide of the blind, physician of the sick, resurrection of all them that have died, which liftest us up, who have fallen into corruption, O honourable Cross: through which corruption hath been most perfectly dissolved, and incorruption hath blossomed, and mortal have been made gods, and the devil hath been utterly cast down. Today we see thee exalted in the hands of priests, we sing hymns to thy exaltation among us, and we worship thee, plenteously drawing from thee great mercy.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the holy Spirit, both now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
